According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, in 2011 the total profit of the business sector was 2.8 billion euros, which is 40% more than the year before. The enterprises last earned a similar total profit in 2006 and 2008.

According to Statistics Estonia, there were more than 8,100 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia in the 2nd quarter of 2012 – this is 29% more than in the same period last year. Compared to the same quarter of the previous year, the number of job vacancies has been increasing since the 2nd quarter of 2010, after the decline in 2008 and 2009.

Today, on 28 December, Statistics Estonia presents an overview of the availability and quality of personal, family and household data in registers based on the results of the trial census of the Register-Based Population and Housing Census.

Statistics Estonia started to employ enumerators for the pilot Census of the 2011 Population and Housing Census (REL 2011). The total of 24 persons will be employed to enumerate the population.

According to Statistics Estonia, there were more than 7,000 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia in the 1st quarter of 2012. The number of job vacancies increased nearly one fifth compared to the same period last year. The rate of job vacancies was 1.3%.
