According to Statistics Estonia, in September, the total production of industrial enterprises decreased by 7.5% at constant prices compared with September 2021. Output increased in just one of the three sectors – by 3.5% in electricity production. Production fell by 7.6% in manufacturing and by 27.1% in mining.

On 6 January, Svetlana Raudonen, a top-level expert with international experience, will start working as the project manager for the Population and Housing Census at Statistics Estonia.

According to Statistics Estonia, 56.5% of the population aged 16–74 used e-commerce in the last three months. Compared to last year, the overall popularity of e-commerce has remained the same, but the amounts spent on purchasing goods and services have increased. According to Statistics Estonia, in June 2021, Estonian accommodation establishments served 216,000 tourists, which is almost a third more than in June last year. There were more domestic tourists and fewer foreign tourists, but the total number of accommodated guests was significantly lower than in 2019 before the coronavirus crisis.

In the first week of December, Statistics Estonia launched the Time Use Survey. The survey takes place every ten years and will end in 2021. Information is collected about how and where people over the age of 10 spend their time and what modes of transport they use.

According to the preliminary data of the Agricultural Census conducted by Statistics Estonia, there are 11,400 agricultural holdings in Estonia, which is 3,800 fewer than ten years ago. 84% of the agricultural output is contributed by 1,300 largest producers who use more than two thirds of the utilised agricultural area and account for more than a half of agricultural labour.

According to Statistics Estonia, 14,822 persons immigrated to and 13,792 persons emigrated from Estonia in 2016. Immigration exceeded emigration for the second year. Most of the migrants were Estonian citizens, but their net migration was negative.

According to Statistics Estonia, the average monthly gross wages and salaries in the second quarter of 2023 were 1,873 euros, which is 12.4% higher than in the same quarter last year. The median wages were 1,524 euros in the second quarter this year.
