According to Statistics Estonia, 79% of the meat consumed in Estonia in 2020 was locally produced. This is the highest percentage in the last five years. In the case of beef, the situation is favourable, but not so in the case of poultry meat.

According to the guidelines of the Government of the Republic, Statistics Estonia is starting negotiations with mobile network operators to resume mobility analysis that was conducted last spring. The goal of the planned mobility analysis is to help evaluate the impact of adopted measures on the movement of people, direct communication and surveillance resources in Estonian regions and assess change in the risk of infection. Statistics Estonia used the same methodology for conducting mobility analysis during the emergency situation in spring 2020.

Jane Leppmets, foreign trade analyst at Statistics Estonia, pointed out that unlike the balance of foreign trade in goods, the balance of foreign trade in services continues to show a surplus, which means that Estonian economic entities export significantly more services than they import. Economic entities include enterprises and non-profit entities, for instance, non-profit associations and state agencies. “In the second quarter, exports of services exceeded imports by €815 million. According to the revised data of Statistics Estonia, 1,315,819 persons lived in Estonia on 1 January 2014. In 2013 the population declined by 4,355 persons (0.3%). Increased immigration has reduced the impact of emigration on population decline. However, the falling number of births means that natural increase has a bigger role in population decline.
