According to Statistics Estonia, in March 2023, the total production of industrial enterprises decreased by 12.6% at constant prices compared with the corresponding month of 2022. Output fell in all three sectors: by 18.5% in electricity production, by 11.9% in manufacturing, and by 14.9% in mining.

In the population census online test survey, which started at the end of last year, Statistics Estonia received answers about 828 persons living at 410 addresses. Statistics Estonia has announced a competition for engaging 25 personnel specialists who will conduct the recruitment of the Census employees this autumn and winter. For conducting the 2011 Population and Housing Census, over 2,400 Census employees must be recruited.

Ülo Paulus, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that in the first quarter of this year, compared with the same period in 2024, the construction price index was primarily influenced by the 2.9% increase in employees’ wages, which accounted for 54% of the index change. “Compared with the fourth quarter of last year, labour force was 0.6% more expensive and the cost of using building machines rose by 0.3%, while the prices of building materials were down by 0.2%,” explained Paulus.
