According to Statistics Estonia, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Estonia grew 4.3% in 2019. In the 4th quarter of 2019, the GDP grew 3.9% compared to the same period of the previous year. The Estonian GDP was 28 billion euros at current prices.

Jane Leppmets, foreign trade analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that both exports and imports of goods increased in March, as in the first two months of the year. “Exports of goods grew in all commodity sections. The rise in exports was influenced by an even larger increase in re-exports, which rose by 27% year on year. This was mainly due to an increase in the re-exports of transport equipment,” Leppmets noted. According to Statistics Estonia, in January 2024, exports of goods decreased by 11% and imports by 13% compared with January 2023. Exports of goods amounted to about 1.4 billion and imports to 1.5 billion euros at current prices. The trade deficit was 122 million euros, which is 60 million euros less than in January last year.
Last year, average wages and salaries increased in all counties

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2019, the average monthly gross wages and salaries of Estonian enterprises, institutions and organisations were 1,407 euros, i.e. 7.4% higher than in 2018. The average monthly gross wages and salaries were higher in the second and fourth quarters.
Last year, a record amount of aquaculture production was sold

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2018, aquaculture enterprises sold 944 tonnes of commercial fish and crayfish, with a total value of 4.2 million euros. The volume of aquaculture production sold in 2018 was highest in the last twenty five years.
Construction in foreign countries continued to boost construction volume

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 2nd quarter of 2019, the total production of Estonian construction enterprises in Estonia and foreign countries increased by 3% compared to the 2nd quarter of 2018. Similarly to the 1st quarter, construction volume increased due to work done in foreign countries, whereas construction volume on the domestic market decreased.
In October, turnover growth of retail trade enterprises continued

According to Statistics Estonia, in October 2018, the turnover of retail trade enterprises was 613.9 million euros. Turnover increased 3% at constant prices compared to October of the previous year.
