According to Statistics Estonia, on 1 January 2018, there were 718,600 dwellings in Estonia, of which nearly 76%, or 542,500, were occupied. Of these, 99.1% were conventional dwellings and other housing units, and 0.9% were collective living quarters.

Johanna Linda Pihlak, analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that the rise in the volume of retail trade turnover in March was driven by enterprises engaged in the retail sale of automotive fuel and by stores selling manufactured goods. “On the other hand, the decline in the turnover volume of grocery stores accelerated in March, as the turnover volume of these stores was down by 7% year on year,” added Pihlak. However, the proportion of people who do not feel an affiliation to any religion has increased – from 54% in 2011 to 58% in 2021. The most prevalent religion in Estonia is Orthodox Christianity.

According to Statistics Estonia, in March 2022, the consumer price index increased by 2.7% compared to February 2022 and by 15.2% compared to March 2021. Goods were 13.7% and services 18.1% more expensive than in March last year.

The increase in the consumer price index in January was 0.8% compared with December 2022 and 18.6% compared with January 2022. Goods were 19.0% and services 17.8% more expensive than in January last year.

Helga Laurmaa, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that 95,000 foreign and 110,000 domestic tourists were accommodated in Estonia in January 2025. Year on year, the number of domestic tourists fell, as it did in several months in 2024.
