The European Statistics Competition 2020, organised by the European statistical office Eurostat, takes place in 17 countries. Basic school, secondary school and vocational school students are invited to participate. The best teams in Estonia are awarded and will have the opportunity to participate in the international phase of the competition.

According to Statistics Estonia, in May, exports of goods increased by 47% and imports by 50% year on year. Trade growth was influenced in addition to last year’s low reference base by exports and imports of mineral fuels, electrical equipment and transport equipment.

Economic growth in Estonia was broad-based. In the previous years, the growth was largely due to internal consumption, whereas in 2017, the growth became more broad‑based. The role of household consumption decreased. After years of decline, investments began to increase again as a result of improved economic climate, indicating a positive mind-set of entrepreneurs.

According to Statistics Estonia, in March, exports of goods increased by 19% and imports by 20% year on year. The growth in foreign trade was mainly driven by trade in electrical equipment, mineral products, wood and articles of wood, and transport equipment.
