According to Statistics Estonia, in the 2nd quarter of 2019, the total production of Estonian construction enterprises in Estonia and foreign countries increased by 3% compared to the 2nd quarter of 2018. Similarly to the 1st quarter, construction volume increased due to work done in foreign countries, whereas construction volume on the domestic market decreased.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 3rd quarter of 2019, the total production of Estonian construction enterprises in Estonia and abroad decreased by 1% year on year. Similarly to the first half of the year, construction volume increased in foreign countries but decreased in Estonia.

According to Statistics Estonia, the change of the construction price index in the 1st quarter of 2019 was 0.5% compared to the 4th quarter of 2018, and 2.0% compared to the 1st quarter of 2018.

Helle Bunder, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that the increased output of manufacturing resulted primarily from the higher volume of production in the manufacture of wood. “In January, the output of the wood industry was up by 8.3% year on year. This was the first time since May 2022 that the output of this industry increased,” explained Bunder. In January, the volume of industrial production increased in more than half of manufacturing activities. Robert Müürsepp, the national accounts team lead at Statistics Estonia, said that there was modest economic growth in the second quarter of 2025. The last time that the GDP grew was in the second quarter of last year. “About half of economic activities contributed positively to the GDP, with the biggest contribution coming from the energy sector where value added grew by 43%. In real estate activities, value added increased by 5.4%. The biggest negative contributors were construction, with a 9.3% decline in value added, and transportation and storage, where value added decreased by 11%,” noted

According to Statistics Estonia, the change of the construction price index in the 3rd quarter of 2018 was 0.3% compared to the previous quarter and 1.4% compared to the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Data from the population and housing census conducted at the end of 2021 show that on average in Estonia, people’s homes are older than they are, and the number of households living in private houses has increased.
