Since 2014, 73,400 foreign citizens have become e-residents of Estonia. 20% of these e-residents have participated in founding a business and over 14,200 businesses have been registered in Estonia with their participation. We looked into where e-residents come from and what are the activities of their Estonian enterprises.

Swen Peterson, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that herbicides are still the most sold type of plant protection products. “In 2024, sales of herbicides totalled 597 tonnes, which is over 80 tonnes more than in 2023. The places where people live have been recorded in one way or another for centuries. In recent decades, developed countries have found that register data are usually more accurate than survey data, and so population censuses have also begun to use them. 278,000 foreign and approximately 224,000 domestic tourists were accommodated in Estonia in July. “As in July last year, we had more foreign tourists (55%) than domestic tourists (45%) accommodated in this year’s July,” said Helga Laurmaa, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia. Sigrid Saagpakk, analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that a smart TV is the most common Internet of Things device in Estonia, used by 57% of internet users. “The second most popular group of devices includes smart watches, wireless headsets and GPS devices, which are used by over a half (53%) of the respondents. Helle Bunder, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that April data show that the growth in manufacturing output has become broad-based. “In April, the volume of industrial production increased in most manufacturing activities. Looking at the larger industries, output grew in the manufacture of wood (3.1%), electrical equipment (7.3%), fabricated metal products (6.6%), and food products (6.1%),” said Bunder.
