Johanna Linda Pihlak, analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that while turnover volume in June increased by 5% year on year, growth slowed down to 1% in July. “Year on year, turnover volume grew by 10% in enterprises engaged in the retail sale of automotive fuel and by 3% in stores selling manufactured goods. The turnover volume of grocery stores continued to decline in July, falling by 5% compared with July 2024,” Pihlak added. Among stores selling manufactured goods, the biggest increase at 28% was registered in the turnover volume of other specialised stores selling predominantly computers

Robert Müürsepp, the national accounts team lead at Statistics Estonia, said that there was modest economic growth in the second quarter of 2025. The last time that the GDP grew was in the second quarter of last year. “About half of economic activities contributed positively to the GDP, with the biggest contribution coming from the energy sector where value added grew by 43%. In real estate activities, value added increased by 5.4%. Lauri Veski, team lead of consumer price statistics at Statistics Estonia, said that the consumer price index in July was up by 0.6% compared with June and by 5.4% year on year. “The last time the year-on-year change in the index was this high was in July 2023, when it stood at 6.4%. Compared with July 2024, the index was affected the most by the 9.1% higher prices of food products. The year-on-year increase in healthcare costs (10.5%) is mainly due to the price lists of healthcare services, which were updated in April,” Veski said, adding that a year-on-year fall was registered in the prices

Helga Laurmaa, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that the number of accommodated tourists was still 5% lower than in October of 2019, the pre-pandemic record year. Compared with October 2019, there were 30,000 fewer foreign tourists accommodated in Estonia, while the number of domestic tourists was higher by 16,000 in October this year. 143,000 foreign and 132,000 domestic tourists were accommodated in Estonia in October 2024. “The number of domestic tourists, which in 2024 has been in decline for most months year on year, took an upturn in October,” noted Laurmaa.
