According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, in 2019, the total production of Estonian construction enterprises in Estonia and in foreign countries amounted to 3.2 billion euros, which is 3% more than in 2018. Taking into account only Estonian construction market, construction volume stayed at the level of the previous year.

Robert Müürsepp, team lead of national accounts at Statistics Estonia, said that although the economy has shown slight growth for two consecutive quarters, the contribution of most sectors has remained insignificant. “Manufacturing was the biggest positive contributor to GDP in the third quarter, with its value added growing by 7.9%. Johanna Linda Pihlak, analyst at Statistics Estonia, noted that the biggest decline at 4% was registered in the turnover volume of stores selling manufactured goods. In grocery stores, the volume of turnover was down by 3%. “However, the turnover volume of enterprises engaged in the retail sale of automotive fuel increased by 2% last year,” added Pihlak. Similarly to the 1st quarter, construction volume increased due to work done in foreign countries, whereas construction volume on the domestic market decreased.
