Today, on 12 January Statistics Estonia organises the Partner Day “How to Measure Regional Development” addressed to local governments and other persons interested in regional development.

According to Statistics Estonia, in January 2013 compared to December 2012, the change of the consumer price index was 0.7% and compared to January of the previous year 3.4%.

Increased immigration has reduced the impact of emigration on population decline. However, the falling number of births means that natural increase has a bigger role in population decline.

Compliance with the European Statistics Code of Practice is monitored though peer reviews. The next peer review in Estonia takes place on 6–10 September 2021.

Statistics Estonia presents today, on 27 July, the publication "Eesti statistika aastaraamat 2012. Statistical Yearbook of Estonia", which provides an overview of the life in Estonia last year in comparison with earlier years and in other European Union countries.

Today, on 21 October, the Director General of Statistics Estonia Mr Andres Oopkaup presented Ms Kairiin Kütt with the Albert Pullerits young statistician’s grant.

Evelin Puura, the foreign trade statistics team lead at Statistics Estonia, pointed out that Estonia's exports were significantly affected by the re-exports of previously imported goods which increased by 30% year on year. “The rise in re-exports was mainly due to transport equipment,” Puura added. Exports of goods of Estonian origin grew by 4% compared with February last year, accounting for 65% of total exports. The rise was mainly due to the increased exports of processed fuels and shale oil as well as measuring instruments. Electrical equipment was the top commodity exported in February

According to Statistics Estonia, the consumer price index increased 2.8% in 2013 compared to the average of 2012.
