According to the data of the 2011 Population and Housing Census (PHC 2011), there were 599,832 households in Estonia. Compared to the previous, 2000 Population Census, the share of households with children younger than 18 years of age has decreased from 33.6% to 25.2%.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the first quarter of 2022, there were 13,076 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia. This is 38% more than in the same quarter of 2021. More than 4,000 persons left their jobs on the employer’s initiative.

Johanna Linda Pihlak, analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that, compared with February last year, turnover volume grew by 21% in enterprises engaged in the retail sale of automotive fuel and by 6% in stores selling manufactured goods. “In grocery stores, the volume of turnover declined by 5% in February year on year,” added Pihlak. Jane Leppmets, foreign trade analyst at Statistics Estonia, pointed out that unlike the balance of foreign trade in goods, the balance of foreign trade in services continues to show a surplus, which means that Estonian economic entities export significantly more services than they import.
