According to Statistics Estonia, in August 2023, the total production of industrial enterprises decreased by 11.9% at constant prices compared with the corresponding month of 2022. Output fell in all three sectors: by 26.2% in electricity production, by 9.3% in manufacturing and by 41.5% in mining.

Foreign trade statistics cover exports and imports of goods and services between Estonia and partner countries. During the population and housing census, information on the highest level of education attained by inhabitants of Estonia was also gathered. According to Statistics Estonia, in the last quarter of 2020, there were 8,707 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia. The number decreased by 16% year on year. More than 7,000 persons left their jobs on the employer’s initiative.

According to Statistics Estonia, the preliminary estimate of the population of Estonia as at 1 January 2020 was 1,328,360, which is 3,540 persons more than at the same time a year ago.
