Terje Trasberg, team lead of population and education statistics at Statistics Estonia, said that 18,634 persons immigrated to Estonia and 17,260 persons emigrated in 2024. “Last year, natural increase was negative (–6,066 people), while net migration was positive (+1,374 people). Helga Laurmaa, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that the number of accommodated tourists was still 6% lower than in September 2019. The number of foreign tourists in accommodation establishments was down by 20%, whereas the number of domestic tourists was 19% higher than in September of the record year before the crisis. “153,000 foreign and 125,000 domestic tourists were accommodated in Estonia in September 2024. According to Statistics Estonia's preliminary estimate, gross domestic product (GDP) continued to decline in the third quarter of 2023. Robert Müürsepp, team lead of national accounts at Statistics Estonia, said that, compared with the third quarter of 2022, GDP fell by around 2.5%.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2023, the construction price index increased by 6.1% compared with the average of 2022. In the fourth quarter of last year, the construction price index increased by 0.9% compared with the third quarter. The index increased by 2.2% compared with the fourth quarter of 2022.

According to Statistics Estonia, in Viimsi rural municipality and Saue city, only 6% of residents lived in relative poverty in 2011, while the share of the relatively poor was over 40% in Kallaste city and in Alatskivi and Peipsiääre rural municipalities. Among local governments, at-risk-of-poverty rate was the highest in remote areas near the border and the lowest in the local governments of Harju county.
