Jane Leppmets, foreign trade analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that there was a marked decline in trade in goods in the first quarter of 2024, as exports were down by 16% and imports by 11%. “In the third quarter, imports were unchanged and there was a slight uptrend in exports. According to Statistics Estonia, in July 2024, Estonia’s exports of goods increased by 5% and imports by 1% compared with July 2023. Exports of goods amounted to over €1.3 billion and imports to nearly €1.7 billion at current prices. The trade deficit was €321 million, which is €59 million less than in July last year.

The share of goods of Estonian origin in total exports was also up from October last year, accounting for 66% in October 2024. Exports of goods amounted to nearly €1.6 billion and imports to almost €1.7 billion at current prices. The trade deficit was €144 million, which is €170 million less than in May last year.
