According to Statistics Estonia, in 2018, the share of internet users among 16–74-year-olds reached 89%, which is 1 percentage point more than a year ago. The share of internet users who ordered accommodation and transport services from private persons increased by 4 and 3 percentage points, respectively.

Statistics Estonia, commissioned by the Education and Youth Board, analysed for the fifth time the economic contribution of working international students and international graduates. Although the number of international degree students in Estonia was down from the previous years, international students paid 16.6 million euros in income and social tax in the academic year 2022/23, and graduates from the year before contributed 6.9 million euros. For students, this is 2.5 million euros more than in the previous academic year, while for graduates it is 1.5 million euros less.

Robert Müürsepp, team lead of national accounts at Statistics Estonia, said that the improvement in Estonian economy continued in the first quarter of 2025. “Compared with the first quarter of 2024, the GDP increased by 1.2%. Statistics Estonia prepared an analysis for the Estonian Education and Youth Authority on the economic impact of international students working in Estonia. It appeared that during the academic year 2019/2020, international students paid 10 million euros in income and social tax in Estonia and international graduates more than 3 million euros.

According to Statistics Estonia, 56.5% of the population aged 16–74 used e-commerce in the last three months. Compared to last year, the overall popularity of e-commerce has remained the same, but the amounts spent on purchasing goods and services have increased. The results of the enterprise survey showed that more than half of the companies using the internet use paid cloud services.
