Jane Leppmets, foreign trade analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that the most significant changes in April concerned extra-EU trade. “Exports to EU countries were up by 8% and imports from the EU fell by 1%. In trade with non-EU countries, exports declined by 10% while imports grew by 16%. Year on year, there were decreased exports from Estonia to the United States, Russia and Singapore, and increased imports from Turkey and Switzerland,” explained Leppmets. According to Statistics Estonia, on the basis of the final results of the 2010 Agricultural Census the concentration of production into large holdings as well as high percentage of rented land characterises the agriculture of Estonia.
