The focus of the global goal “Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions” is people’s overall security. Mainly attention is paid to regions of military conflict, but the goal is to increase security everywhere. The 2030 Agenda targets emphasise the need to reduce violence and the number of related deaths, especially among children. Child abuse and exploitation, trafficking in children, violence against and torture of children must be ended. The activities of countries must be based on the rule of law. Elisa, Tele2 and Telia to analyse clients’ mobility themselves

In order to provide the crisis commission with a quick overview about whether people are complying with movement restrictions, Elisa, Tele2 and Telia decided to take it upon themselves to analyse the mobility of their clients. The data used for the analysis will be entirely anonymous and not real-time. Statistics Estonia will compile the analyses of the mobile network operators and produce an overview for the whole country. The first results are expected to be available in the coming week. The reason for the new decision is the obligation of the operators to protect personal data and ensure anonymity.

Employment indicators improved at the beginning of the year

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 1st quarter of 2017, the unemployment rate was 5.6%, the employment rate 66.3% and the labour force participation rate 70.2%. The labour force participation rate reached a record level in comparison with the 1st quarters of previous years.

Long-term unemployment has significantly decreased

According to Statistics Estonia, the unemployment rate was 6.5% and the employment rate was 65.1% in the 2nd quarter of 2015. Compared to the second quarters of the previous years, the number of long-term unemployed persons fell under 20,000 for the first time after the recession.
