Statistics Estonia starts monitoring consumers’ and enterprises’ economic confidence: each response matters
On 4 May, Statistics Estonia begins the economic sentiment surveys that show how secure Estonian residents feel financially and how enterprises see the future of their business activities.
GDP flash estimate: the economy grew by 1.3% in Q1
According to the preliminary estimate of Statistics Estonia, in the first quarter of 2026, the gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 1.3% compared with the same period of 2025.
HICP flash estimate: prices up by 0.9% in April
According to the preliminary estimate of Statistics Estonia, in April, the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP), which includes the expenditures of tourists, increased by 0.9% compared with March. Compared with April last year, the HICP rose by 3.3%. This is a flash estimate which will be refined once more detailed data on April prices are received.
Statistics Estonia will start conducting business and consumer surveys
Starting from May 2026, Statistics Estonia will conduct business and consumer surveys, used to assess economic confidence among enterprises and consumers.
Job vacancies down by 5.4% in the third quarter
According to Statistics Estonia, in the third quarter of 2025, there were 9,375 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions, and organisations of Estonia. This is 5.4% less than in the same quarter last year. In the third quarter, 5,432 persons left their job at the initiative of the employer.
In November, the consumer price index was up by 4.9% year on year
According to Statistics Estonia, in November, the consumer price index decreased by 0.2% compared with October and increased by 4.9% compared with November 2024. Goods were 2.9% and services 7.9% more expensive than in November last year.
Industrial production down by 1.1% in October
According to Statistics Estonia, in October 2025, the total production of industrial enterprises decreased by 1.1% at constant prices compared with October 2024. Among the three main sectors, output increased by 5.4% in mining and by 0.3% in electricity production but decreased by 1.4% in manufacturing.
HICP flash estimate: prices down by 0.5% in November
According to the preliminary estimate of Statistics Estonia, in November 2025, the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP), which includes the expenditures of tourists, decreased by 0.5% compared with October. Compared with November last year, the HICP rose by 4.7%. This is a flash estimate, which will be refined once more detailed data on November prices are received.
In the third quarter, exports of services grew by 12% and imports by 13%
According to Statistics Estonia and Eesti Pank, in the third quarter of 2025, Estonia’s exports of services grew by 12% and imports by 13%. Exports of services amounted to slightly more than 3.6 billion euros and imports to nearly 2.8 billion euros at current prices. The surplus of foreign trade in services was 834 million euros, which is 60 million euros more than in the same quarter last year.
The economy continued to grow slightly in Q3
According to Statistics Estonia, in the third quarter of 2025, the gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 0.9% compared with the same period of 2024. The GDP at current prices amounted to €10.5 billion in the third quarter. Economic growth continued at the same pace as in the previous quarter.
Volume of retail trade turnover continued to grow in October
According to Statistics Estonia, in October 2025, the turnover of retail trade enterprises was €941 million. Compared with October 2024, the volume of retail trade turnover was up by 4%.
Average wages and salaries were €2,075 in the third quarter
According to Statistics Estonia, in the third quarter of 2025, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were €2,075, which is 5.9% higher than in the third quarter of 2024. Year-on-year wage growth slowed down.
Construction volume in the third quarter up on the domestic market, down abroad
According to Statistics Estonia, in the third quarter of 2025, the total production value of Estonian construction enterprises in Estonia and abroad decreased by 0.6% compared with the third quarter of 2024. On the domestic construction market, however, the rise in construction volume was 0.4%.
A new business analytics tool on the eesti.ee portal is now freely available to all entrepreneurs
Entrepreneurs can now get a more comprehensive overview of their company’s financial data. The business viability index, created in cooperation between Statistics Estonia and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications, brings together data collected from annual reports and tax declarations into one unified view on the eesti.ee portal.
Producer price index of industrial output up by 0.6% in October
The producer price index of industrial output, which expresses changes in the producer prices of industrial goods manufactured in Estonia for the domestic market and for export, increased by 0.3% in October 2025 compared with September and by 0.6% compared with October last year.
Number of unemployed persons down in third quarter
According to Statistics Estonia, in the third quarter of 2025, the unemployment rate was 7.1%, the employment rate was 69.7%, and the labour force participation rate was 75.1%.
