There are people of 224 different ethnic nationalities living in Estonia
According to Statistics Estonia, the population of Estonia as at 1 January 2026 was 1,360,745. Based on ethnic nationality, 932,603 people (68.5%) were Estonian, 276,125 (20.2%) were Russian and 146,619 (10.8%) were of other ethnic nationalities. Compared with the 2021 population census, the number of ethnic nationalities represented in Estonia has grown by 23. Most of these new ethnic nationalities have just one or two representatives in Estonia.
HICP flash estimate: prices up by 0.5% in July
According to the preliminary estimate of Statistics Estonia, in July, the harmonised index of consumer prices, which takes into account the expenditures of tourists, rose by 0.5% compared with June. Compared with July 2025, the index rose by 2%. This is a flash estimate which will be refined once more detailed data on July prices are received.
GDP flash estimate: the economy grew by 2.1% in Q2
According to the preliminary estimate of Statistics Estonia, in the second quarter of 2026, the gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 2.1% compared with the same period of 2025.
Estonians’ assessment of the economy has improved, while confidence in the construction and trade sectors somewhat declined
Today, on 28 July, Statistics Estonia published the July data of the business and consumer surveys that measure the economic confidence of enterprises and consumers. The results show that the confidence of construction and trade enterprises has declined slightly, while assessments in other sectors and among consumers improved.
Nearly half the people in Estonia use artificial intelligence
The latest data from Statistics Estonia's internet use and digital skills survey reveal that there are now 564,800 households with an internet connection, accounting for 95% of all households in Estonia. Compared with 2024, the number of households with internet access has increased by 20,000.
Statistics Estonia's ICT survey: half of Estonian enterprises use data analytics
The latest information technology survey conducted by Statistics Estonia reveals that an increasing number of Estonian enterprises are using data analytics in their daily work, with the latest figures showing that 49% of them do so. At least one artificial intelligence (AI) technology is used by 22% of enterprises, and 61% use paid cloud services.
