According to Statistics Estonia, in December 2017, compared to December 2016, the turnover of retail trade enterprises increased 1% at constant prices.

Eurostat published the report of the Peer Review of the Estonian statistical system. In the report, the Estonian Statistical System was concluded to be of high quality. However, the Peer Review team also identified areas where improvements should be made.

According to Statistics Estonia, 22.6% of the Estonian population lived at risk of poverty in 2017.  The percentage of people at risk of poverty increased 1.6 percentage points compared to the previous year.

Based on the results of the 2011 Population and Housing Census (PHC) and the building data from the Estonian National Topographic Database, Statistics Estonia calculated built-up localities. By area and the number of inhabitants, the largest built-up locality is that of Tallinn, which, besides the Tallinn city area, covers the settlements of Tabasalu and Laagri.

According to Statistics Estonia, in September, 295,000 tourists stayed in Estonian accommodation establishments, where they spent more than 544,000 nights. 64% of the tourists were foreign tourists and 36% were domestic tourists.

According to Statistics Estonia, in August 2018, the producer price index of industrial output changed by 1.0% compared to July and by 3.4% compared to August 2017.

Jane Leppmets, foreign trade analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that the most significant changes in April concerned extra-EU trade. “Exports to EU countries were up by 8% and imports from the EU fell by 1%. In trade with non-EU countries, exports declined by 10% while imports grew by 16%. Year on year, there were decreased exports from Estonia to the United States, Russia and Singapore, and increased imports from Turkey and Switzerland,” explained Leppmets. According to Statistics Estonia, in August 2017, the production of industrial enterprises increased 5% compared to August 2016. Production increased in mining and quarrying but decreased in the energy sector.
