Estonia produced 189.5 million eggs last year, one in two eggs eaten is locally produced
According to Statistics Estonia, 189.5 million eggs were produced in Estonia in 2024, which is 6% more than the year before. The average annual egg production was 138 eggs per person. Including imported eggs, 16.2 kg or 259 eggs per person were consumed during the year.
Estonia produces 71% of the meat consumed here
According to Statistics Estonia, 76,500 tonnes of meat were produced in Estonia in 2024, which is 1% more than the year before. The average annual meat production was 56 kg per person. Including imported meat, a total of 78 kg of meat per person were consumed during the year. 71% of the meat consumed in Estonia in 2024 was locally produced.
HICP flash estimate: prices down by 0.3% in March

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2024, life expectancy at birth was 79.5 years in Estonia. Among European countries, Estonia has had the biggest increase in life expectancy in the last three decades. The number of healthy life years at birth is 58.7 in Estonia.
Construction volume up by 5% in the first quarter
According to Statistics Estonia, in the first quarter of 2025, the total production value of Estonian construction enterprises in Estonia and abroad increased by 5% compared with the first quarter of 2024. Considering only the domestic market, the rise in construction volume was 3%.
Producer price index of industrial output rose by 1.4% in April year on year
The producer price index of industrial output, which expresses changes in the producer prices of industrial goods manufactured in Estonia for the domestic market and for export, decreased by 1.0% in April 2025 compared with March and increased by 1.4% compared with April last year.
Foreign tourists’ visits to Estonian museums up by nearly a fifth
According to Statistics Estonia, museums in Estonia were visited more than 2.6 million times last year. The number of visits increased by 6.5% compared with 2023. Year on year, the number of visits by foreign tourists was up by 18.2%.
The number of unemployed persons is at the highest level of the last 12 years
According to Statistics Estonia, in the first quarter of 2025, the unemployment rate was 8.6%, the employment rate was 67.4%, and the labour force participation rate was 73.7%.
Exports of goods up by 17% and imports by 13% in March
According to Statistics Estonia, in March 2025, Estonia’s exports of goods grew by 17% and imports by 13%. Exports of goods amounted to nearly €1.7 billion and imports to more than €1.9 billion at current prices. The trade deficit was €237 million, which is €12 million less than in March last year.
The number of accommodated tourists decreased in March year on year
According to Statistics Estonia, accommodation establishments served 217,000 tourists in March 2025, which is 9% less than in the same month a year earlier. The number of foreign tourists declined by 7% and the number of domestic tourists by 11%.
The consumer price index rose by 1% in April
According to Statistics Estonia, in April, the consumer price index increased by 1% compared with March and by 4.5% compared with April 2024. Goods were 2% and services 8.6% more expensive than in April last year.
Production volumes in manufacturing showed modest growth for the third month in a row
According to Statistics Estonia, in March 2025, the total production of industrial enterprises increased by 0.5% at constant prices compared with March last year. Among the three industrial sectors, output increased by 1.2% in manufacturing but decreased by 1.7% in energy production and by 6.1% in mining.
