Lauri Veski, team lead of consumer price statistics at Statistics Estonia, said that the consumer price index in July was up by 0.6% compared with June and by 5.4% year on year. “The last time the year-on-year change in the index was this high was in July 2023, when it stood at 6.4%. Johanna Linda Pihlak , analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that, compared with November 2024, turnover volume fell by 5% in grocery stores and by 1% in stores selling manufactured goods. “The turnover volume of enterprises engaged in the retail sale of automotive fuel continued to increase and was up by 13% year on year,” added Pihlak. While in previous years the field of computer programming was growing mainly because of young people, in the past year their numbers have fallen.

The international Survey of Adult Skills (PIAAC), which aims to collect data on people’s everyday competencies such as literacy, numeracy, information-seeking, use of computers and information technology, as well as their education and work experience, begins today. This is the second time that Estonia has participated in the survey.
