HICP flash estimate: prices down by 0.5% in November

According to the preliminary estimate of Statistics Estonia, in November 2025, the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP), which includes the expenditures of tourists, decreased by 0.5% compared with October. Compared with November last year, the HICP rose by 4.7%. This is a flash estimate, which will be refined once more detailed data on November prices are received.

According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, there were 95,800 dairy cows in Estonia in 2009, which makes 5% less compared to the previous year.

Record yield of rape seed was harvested last year

According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, the cereal production was 879,000 tons in 2009, which was 2% more than in the previous year. The yield of rape and turnip rape seed was the largest of the last decade — 135,700 tons.

In November exports of mineral products and wood increased

According to Statistics Estonia, in November 2009 exports of goods from Estonia at current prices totalled 9.1 billion kroons and imports to Estonia amounted to 10.3 billion kroons. Compared to November 2008, total exports declined by 8% but exports of mineral products (incl. petroleum products) and of wood and products thereof increased.

Population stands at 1.34 million

According to Statistics Estonia, by preliminary estimation the population in Estonia on 1 January 2010 was 1,340,000. Due to the decrease in the number of deaths the decline in population number slowed down last year.

Over 2,000 persons have participated in the pilot Census of PHC 2011

According to Statistics Estonia, over 2,000 persons have been enumerated in the pilot Census of the 2011 Population and Housing Census (PHC 2011). The population of Rae rural municipality have participated the most in electronic census that is going on until the mid-February.

Producer price indices in December

According to Statistics Estonia, in December 2009 the percentage change in the producer price index was 0.0% compared to November and -1.8% compared to December of the previous year.

Construction price index fell also in the 4th quarter

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 4th quarter of 2009 the construction price index fell 10.0% compared to the 4th quarter of 2008. In 2009, the index fell 8.5% compared to the average of 2008.

According to Statistics Estonia, in November 2009, 140,000 tourists stayed in accommodation establishments, which was 9% less than in the same month of the previous year.

Consumer price index in December

According to Statistics Estonia, the consumer price index increased 0.1% in December 2009 compared to November and decreased 1.7% compared to December 2008.
