According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, on 1 January 2024, the population of Estonia was 1,366,491, which is 607 persons more than at the same time a year ago. In 2023, there were 10,721 births and 15,832 deaths in Estonia. Based on the data on registered migration, 20,209 persons immigrated to Estonia and 14,491 persons emigrated from Estonia. Compared with a year earlier, the number of births, deaths and immigrants has fallen, while the number of emigrants has risen.
In the third quarter, the Estonian economy shrank by 1.9%

According to Statistics Estonia, in the third quarter of 2020, the gross domestic product (GDP) decreased by 1.9% year on year. The GDP at current prices was 7 billion euros. Transportation and storage and manufacturing activities were the main contributors to the economic decline.

According to Statistics Estonia, in November 2022, Estonian accommodation establishments served nearly 226,000 tourists, which is 35% more than in November 2021. There was a rise in the number of both foreign* and domestic tourists.

According to Statistics Estonia, in June 2020, the production of industrial enterprises decreased by 6% compared to June 2019. Production decreased in manufacturing and mining, while energy production increased owing to last year’s low comparison basis.

According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, on 1 January 2021, the population of Estonia was 1,329,460 persons, which is 480 persons more than at the same time a year ago. Population decreased by 2,590 persons due to negative natural increase and increased by 3,070 persons as a result of positive net migration.

According to Statistics Estonia, in June 2022, Estonian accommodation establishments served nearly 337,000 tourists, which is 56% more than in June last year. The number of both domestic and foreign tourists* increased.

According to Statistics Estonia, 34 full-length films were produced in Estonia in 2018, of which 22 were distributed in cinemas in the same year. Cinema attendance set a new record – 3.6 million visits, i.e. 275 visits per 100 inhabitants.

According to Statistics Estonia, in April 2020, the production of industrial enterprises decreased by 17% compared to April 2019. Production decreased in all three industrial activities: manufacturing, energy production and mining.
