Eurostat published the report of the Peer Review of the Estonian statistical system. In the report, the Estonian Statistical System was concluded to be of high quality. However, the Peer Review team also identified areas where improvements should be made.

In order to increase the security of access to the research work environment, Statistics Estonia will make the identification of researchers working remotely with data ID-card based. From 8 January 2023, it will no longer be possible to access the research work environment with a password only.

Statistical thresholds In 2023, the statistical threshold for the dispatches of goods is 270,000 euros (last year, it was 200,000 euros). It means that, in 2023, Intrastat data have to be submitted by those enterprises whose turnover of goods dispatched to European Union countries exceeded 270,000 euros in 2022. According to Statistics Estonia, in the third quarter of 2023, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 1,812 euros, which is 10.4% higher than in the same quarter last year. The median wages were 1,500 euros, which is 11.2% more than in the third quarter last year.

Population census. Young people have more health problems than 10 years ago

According to the 2021 census, an estimated one third of the population have a long-term illness or health problem. This is 2 percentage points more than in the previous census in 2011. 28% of the population are limited in their daily activities because of a health problem.

Collected data revealed that the educational attainment of the population continues to rise. The level of education of foreigners living in here has also increased significantly. 205,000 tourists: number of accommodated tourists up by 6% in January

Helga Laurmaa, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that 95,000 foreign and 110,000 domestic tourists were accommodated in Estonia in January 2025. Year on year, the number of domestic tourists fell, as it did in several months in 2024.
