What is official statistics? Official statistics are public information that reflect the social situation and changes in the society. Official statistics are produced on the basis of the Official Statistics Act and in accordance with the principles and quality criteria laid down in Regulation (EC) No 223/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council. The production of official statistics is guided by the needs of the society or the European Union statistical programme. The procedure of logging into the research work environment will become ID-card based

In order to increase the security of access to the research work environment, Statistics Estonia will make the identification of researchers working remotely with data ID-card based. From 8 January 2023, it will no longer be possible to access the research work environment with a password only.

Statistical thresholds In 2023, the statistical threshold for the dispatches of goods is 270,000 euros (last year, it was 200,000 euros). It means that, in 2023, Intrastat data have to be submitted by those enterprises whose turnover of goods dispatched to European Union countries exceeded 270,000 euros in 2022. If enterprises exceed the statistical threshold in 2023, they will also have to submit Intrastat data. The statistical threshold for the arrivals of goods is 400,000 euros (the same as last year). During the population and housing census, information on the highest level of education attained by inhabitants of Estonia was also gathered. Collected data revealed that the educational attainment of the population continues to rise. The level of education of foreigners living in here has also increased significantly. Below we will take a closer look at the educational attainment of the native Estonian- and Russian-speaking population as well as that of other mother tongue speakers and see how it has changed since the previous censuses.

According to the 2021 census, an estimated one third of the population have a long-term illness or health problem. This is 2 percentage points more than in the previous census in 2011. 28% of the population are limited in their daily activities because of a health problem.
