According to Statistics Estonia, in the 2nd quarter of 2017, the unemployment rate was 7%, the employment rate 66.9% and the labour force participation rate 72%. Compared to the 2nd quarter of 2016, the employment rate remained on the same level and the labour force participation rate reached its highest level for 20 years.

Jane Leppmets, foreign trade analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that the most significant changes in April concerned extra-EU trade. “Exports to EU countries were up by 8% and imports from the EU fell by 1%. In trade with non-EU countries, exports declined by 10% while imports grew by 16%. Year on year, there were decreased exports from Estonia to the United States, Russia and Singapore, and increased imports from Turkey and Switzerland,” explained Leppmets. According to Statistics Estonia, in March 2016, 212,400 domestic and foreign tourists stayed in accommodation establishments, which was 13% more than in March 2015. The number of both domestic and foreign tourists increased.

According to Statistics Estonia there were 2.6 million cinema visits in 2014, which is an all-time record since the restoration of independence. In the last nine years, cinema attendance has increased each year.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 1st quarter of 2016 compared to the same quarter of the previous year, the total production of Estonian construction enterprises in Estonia and foreign countries increased 3%. If only the Estonian construction market is taken into account, the construction volumes increased 5%.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2020, 784 tonnes of pesticides by active substance were placed on the market in Estonia. The majority of these pesticides were herbicides, while the sales of fungicides and growth regulators were the highest of the last decade.
