More than 62% of the estimated population of Estonia were enumerated in the e-census, based on preliminary data. The final proportion of e-census participants will be revealed after the publication of the census results in May, when the actual population size of Estonia has been determined.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 2nd quarter of 2011, the net sales, costs and total profit of the business sector increased compared to the previous quarter as well as to the same quarter of the previous year. At the same time the continually improving comparison basis turns the growth rate slower.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 2nd quarter of 2013 the total profit of the business sector was 801 million euros, which was 5% less than in the same period a year earlier.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 2nd quarter of 2014 compared to the same quarter of the previous year, the total production of Estonian construction enterprises in Estonia and foreign countries decreased 4%. The construction volumes have decreased for three quarters in a row.

Jane Leppmets, foreign trade analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that the most significant changes in April concerned extra-EU trade. “Exports to EU countries were up by 8% and imports from the EU fell by 1%. In trade with non-EU countries, exports declined by 10% while imports grew by 16%. Year on year, there were decreased exports from Estonia to the United States, Russia and Singapore, and increased imports from Turkey and Switzerland,” explained Leppmets. According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, in 2013 the total profit of the business sector was 3.1 billion euros, which was 5% more than the year earlier. The increase in the enterprise sector’s total profit continued for the fourth year in a row.
