Agricultural production in Estonia increased again last year

According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, 847,800 tonnes of milk and 79,900 tonnes of meat were produced in 2020. This is, respectively, 3% and 5% more than the year before. The utilised agricultural area without kitchen gardens increased by 3,000 hectares and totalled 983,000 hectares.

Data collected from registers in the 2021 census reveal that in ten years, Estonia’s population has grown, people live longer, and the number of working-age persons has fallen. Over the last decade, Estonia has seen a rise in the number of ethnic nationalities, countries of citizenship, mother tongues, and countries of birth, as well as an increase in the number of Estonians.

Imports from Russia and Belarus fell sharply in August

According to Statistics Estonia, in August 2022, Estonia’s exports of goods increased by 20% and imports by 28% compared with August 2021. Imports from Russia fell by 55% and imports from Belarus by 96% year on year.

Collected data revealed that the educational attainment of the population continues to rise. The level of education of foreigners living in here has also increased significantly. According to Statistics Estonia, in 2021, the average monthly parental benefit was 1,205 euros for women and 1,463 euros for men. Last year, a total of 38,882 persons received parental benefit and a third of them were men.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the second quarter of 2021, the total production value of Estonian construction enterprises in Estonia and abroad increased by 17% year on year. Considering only the Estonian construction market, the growth in construction volume was 18%.

The trade deficit narrowed in April

According to Statistics Estonia, in April 2023, Estonia’s exports of goods decreased by 4% and imports by 18% at current prices compared with April 2022. Foreign trade was most affected by the reduced trade in mineral fuels and wood and articles of wood.
