Population census. More people speak dialects than in the previous census

It is estimated that 17% of the native Estonian-speaking population speak a dialect. This is 2 percentage points more than in the previous census. The share of dialect speakers has increased the most in Hiiu and Saare counties, but it has not decreased in any county. 10% of dialect speakers speak more than one dialect.

Today, 8th of July, the Government of the Republic approved the regulation, which allows Statistics Estonia during a two-year transition period to ask economic units the data already submitted to the Business Register in their annual reports.

The EKOMAR questionnaire has been designed to obtain more detailed data on the financial indicators of enterprises in order to assess Estonia's economic growth and prepare business overviews. The reference period for the EKOMAR questionnaire is a calendar year . In order to facilitate completion, the questionnaire is designed to be as similar as possible to the annual report. The annual report (AR) filed with the Business Register is one of the most important datasets used in the production of statistics. Around 150,000 people have responded to the e-census

By today, January 6, approximately 150,000 people have submitted answers to the Population and Housing Census e-questionnaire. Women have been considerably more active in filling in the questionnaire than men. The short questionnaire can be answered until January 22.
