The rise in services exports slowed down in the third quarter

According to Statistics Estonia and Eesti Pank, in the third quarter of 2023, Estonia’s exports of services grew by 1% and imports by 3% at current prices compared with the same quarter of 2022. Sales of services to non-residents totalled 2.8 billion euros and purchases of services from non-residents amounted to 2.2 billion euros. The balance of foreign trade in services was in surplus by 557 million euros.

According to Statistics Estonia, 1,365,884 people live in Estonia as of 01.01.2023, which is 34,088 persons (2.6%) more than at the same time a year ago. In 2022, there were 11,646 births and 17,315 deaths in Estonia. 49,414 persons immigrated to Estonia and 9,657 persons emigrated from Estonia, therefore, immigration exceeded emigration fivefold.
Museum attendance fell despite a large number of exhibitions

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2021, there were 174 museums in Estonia with 229 museum sites. The number of museum visits was nearly 1.7 million, which is 59,000 fewer than in 2020 and the lowest in the past 18 years.

According to Statistics Estonia, the volume of freight transport through ports fell by 31% in 2023. A total of 23 million tonnes of goods were transported through Estonian ports, 10 million tonnes less than a year earlier. Estonian railways carried a total of 10.1 million tonnes of freight last year, 43% less than in 2022.
Construction volume grew by 9% last year

According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, in 2021, the total construction volume of Estonian construction enterprises in Estonia and abroad increased by 9% year on year. Considering only the Estonian construction market, the rise in construction volume was 10%.

According to Statistics Estonia, in October, Estonia’s exports of goods amounted to 1.5 billion and imports to 1.8 billion euros. Compared with October 2022, exports of goods decreased by 21% and imports by 17% at current prices. The trade deficit in October was 307 million euros, which is 24 million euros more than a year earlier.
