The most populous country is India, and the world's population will continue to increase until at least 2084. This is according to the population projection published by the United Nations in July.

“Looking at the wage change trend, wage growth is still slower now than in 2023,” said Sigrid Saagpakk, analyst at Statistics Estonia. According to Statistics Estonia, in 2023, life expectancy at birth was 79 years in Estonia. This is the highest result ever and puts Estonia ahead of the other Baltic countries. At the same time, there was a slight decrease in healthy life years.

Lauri Veski, team lead of consumer price statistics at Statistics Estonia, said that the consumer price index in July was up by 0.6% compared with June and by 5.4% year on year. “The last time the year-on-year change in the index was this high was in July 2023, when it stood at 6.4%. Compared with July 2024, the index was affected the most by the 9.1% higher prices of food products. The year-on-year increase in healthcare costs (10.5%) is mainly due to the price lists of healthcare services, which were updated in April,” Veski said, adding that a year-on-year fall was registered in the prices

According to Statistics Estonia, the preliminary estimate of the population of Estonia as at 1 January 2020 was 1,328,360, which is 3,540 persons more than at the same time a year ago.
