Statistics Estonia prepared an analysis for the Estonian Education and Youth Authority on the economic impact of international students working in Estonia. It appeared that during the academic year 2019/2020, international students paid 10 million euros in income and social tax in Estonia and international graduates more than 3 million euros.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 3rd quarter of 2017, there were approximately 12,700 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia. This is the highest number of job vacancies in recent years.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 3rd quarter of 2015, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 1,045 euros. Compared to the 3rd quarter of 2014, the average monthly gross wages and salaries increased by 6.9%, and compared to the 2nd quarter of 2015, the average monthly gross wages and salaries decreased by 3.4%.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 4th quarter of 2008, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 13,117 kroons and the hourly gross wages and salaries were 79.58 kroons. Compared to the 4th quarter of 2007, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were by 6.9% and the average hourly gross wages and salaries were by 9.9% higher. Since 1993, the growth of monthly gross wages and salaries was last as small as that in the 1st quarter of 2004 (6.5%).

According to Statistics Estonia, the percentage change of the construction price index in the 2nd quarter of 2012 was 1.1% compared to the 1st quarter of 2012 and 4.7% compared to the 2nd quarter of the previous year. The quarterly change was mostly influenced by an increase in labour costs and the annual change by an increase in the cost of building materials.

Absolute poverty means that a person’s income is below the absolute poverty threshold. The threshold is calculated on the basis of equivalised disposable income that takes into account the composition of the household (the weight of the first adult member is 1, the weight of each additional member aged at least 14 years is 0.7 and the weight of everyone under 14 years of age is 0.5), i.e. the total household income is divided by the sum of equivalence scales of household members. The absolute poverty threshold is the estimated subsistence minimum, which represents the financial cost of meeting
