In June, the confidence of industrial enterprises declined, while assessments in other sectors and among consumers improved slightly

Today, on 25 June, Statistics Estonia published the June results of the surveys that measure the economic confidence of enterprises and consumers.

The number of international students decreased last year but their tax contribution increased

According to Statistics Estonia, in the academic year 2024/25, international students studying and working in Estonia contributed 16.6 million euros in taxes. In the same period, international graduates of the academic year 2023/24 contributed 7.5 million euros as labour taxes in Estonia. Throughout the analysed period (2017–2025), international students and graduates have contributed over 317 million euros in taxes in Estonia.

The share of innovative enterprises in Estonia is growing

According to Statistics Estonia, 65% of Estonian enterprises have introduced product or process innovations. The share of innovative enterprises is the highest in financial and insurance activities and in information and communication.

Latest business and consumer survey results published by Statistics Estonia

On 26 May, Statistics Estonia published for the first time the results of the surveys that measure consumers’ and enterprises’ economic confidence. The data are published in the statistical database.

Harvesting is coming to an end

According to Statistics Estonia,by 15 September, 96% of the sown area of cereals, 75% of the sown area of rape and turnip rape, and 49% of the area under potatoes had been harvested in Estonia.

Producer price index slightly decreased in August

According to Statistics Estonia, today, on 16 September at 9.00 a.m. a job competition will be opened for recruiting 132 supervisors of enumerators for the 2011 Population and Housing Census.

Three quarters of households have broadband connection to the Internet

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 1st quarter of 2011, seven out of ten households in Estonia had Internet connection at home, most of them broadband connection. The percentage of households with Internet connection has slightly increased every year during the last five years.

Perking up of the economic environment increased significantly the energy production

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2010, the production of electricity of Estonian power stations totalled nearly 13,000 gigawatt-hours, which is about a half more than a year earlier. The production of other types of fuels also increased.

The last testing of the Population Census came to an end

Statistics Estonia finished the last Pilot Census of the 2011 Population and Housing Census, where during 11 days the conduct of the whole Census was tested. Over 300 employees of Statistics Estonia and volunteers participated in the test.

In July more tourists stayed in accommodation establishments than a year ago

According to Statistics Estonia, in July 2011, 397,000 tourists stayed in accommodation establishments and the number of both domestic and foreign tourists increased by 11% compared to July of the previous year.

In July machinery and equipment made up nearly a third of Estonia’s trade

According to Statistics Estonia, in July 2011, exports from Estonia amounted to 933 million euros and imports to Estonia to 1 billion euros at current prices. In July 2011, the share of machinery and equipment comprised 32% of Estonia’s total exports and 31% of imports.

Economy grew 8.4% in the 2nd quarter

According to the second estimates of Statistics Estonia, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Estonia increased by 8.4% in the 2nd quarter of 2011 compared to the same quarter of the previous year.
