According to preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, the Estonian general government sector deficit was 3% and the gross debt level was 4.8% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2008. The general government budget’s deficit remained within the limits set out in the Maastricht Treaty.

The Agricultural Census survey begins today

According to Statistics Estonia, starting today, 15 September, interviewers from Statistics Estonia will begin visiting households included on the census list for the Agricultural Census. Interviews will take place with households belonging to private persons that did not take part in the 1-10 September e-Census.

According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, in 2011 the total production of Estonian construction enterprises in Estonia and in foreign countries amounted to 1.7 billion euros, which is 27% more than the year before. Construction volumes, which had started to decline in 2008, took an upturn in 2011.

Statistics Estonia has announced a competition for engaging 25 personnel specialists who will conduct the recruitment of the Census employees this autumn and winter. For conducting the 2011 Population and Housing Census, over 2,400 Census employees must be recruited.
