According to Statistics Estonia, in the 1st quarter of 2016, 86% of households in Estonia had Internet access at home. There has been an increase in the share of people having used e-commerce services more than five times in the last three months.

Starting today, 15 December, Statistics Estonia will send out information leaflets on the Population and Housing Census (PHC 2011) beginning on 31 December. The leaflets will be delivered to all mailboxes of private individuals in Estonia – with the help of Estonian Post, the leaflets will reach more than 650,000 mailboxes.

According to Statistics Estonia, in November 2023, Estonia’s exports of goods amounted to 1.5 billion and imports to 1.7 billion euros. On 20–21 April a conference of the Estonian Statistical Society “Kas Eesti rahvas jääb püsima?” (Will Estonian Population Survive?) will be held at the National Library of Estonia in Tallinn. During these two days the focus will be on the questions related to the survival of Estonian population.

According to preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, the Estonian general government sector deficit was 3% and the gross debt level was 4.8% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2008. The general government budget’s deficit remained within the limits set out in the Maastricht Treaty.

Up to 3 November one can apply for the enumerator’s post at the Population and Housing Census starting at the end of the year. Most candidates are expected to Tallinn and Harju county, to the neighbourhood of Suure-Jaani and to the rural municipalities near Lake Peipus.
