According to Statistics Estonia, in June 2011 the production of industrial enterprises grew 24% compared to June of the previous year. If at the beginning of the year the production grew around 30%, then in May and June the growth of industrial production slightly slowed down compared to the same month of the previous year.

In May, electrical equipment was the most exported commodity, while agricultural products and food preparations were the top commodities in imports

Jane Leppmets, foreign trade analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that, in May, the changes in intra-EU trade were marginal – exports were up by 3% and imports down by 1%. “In extra-EU trade, exports of goods decreased by 2% while imports increased by 54% compared with May last year. The latter was influenced by a large-scale transaction in the defence sector,” noted Leppmets. In September, Estonia’s exports of goods amounted to almost 1.6 billion and imports to nearly 1.9 billion euros at current prices. The trade deficit was 292 million euros, which is 46 million euros more than in September last year. In the third quarter overall, exports of goods grew by 4% and imports by 6%. Exports of goods amounted to over €1.4 billion and imports to nearly €1.7 billion at current prices. The trade deficit was €264 million, which is €63 million higher than in August last year.
