The unemployment rate shows the share of unemployed persons in the economically active population, or the labour force. The data are collected with the Labour Force Survey. An unemployed person is someone who does not work anywhere, but who is actively seeking work and is available to start work immediately (within two weeks), if he or she found work.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2018, life expectancy at birth was 73.9 years for males and 82.4 years for females. Life expectancy has increased for both sexes, slightly more for males. Men are expected to live disability-free for 52.8 and women for 55.6 years. Just a year ago, disability-free life expectancy for males was two years longer and for females over three years longer.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 4th quarter of 2011, the unemployed persons numbered 79,000 and the unemployment rate was 11.4%. The annual average unemployment rate was the smallest during last three years.

From today until 22 January 2022, the e-questionnaire for the Population and Housing Census is open. Everyone living in Estonia is welcome to respond to the e-census. Only people who are included in the survey sample may expect a phone call or visit from a census taker if they have not filled in the e-questionnaire.

Prevention activities should have sufficient impact to avoid crimes and conflicts as much as possible. It is necessary to educate youth from early on, teach them rules of behaviour and social norms as well as responsibility in traffic. Fire safety awareness is required to avoid fatal mistakes. Exports of services at a record high in the second quarter

According to Statistics Estonia and Eesti Pank, in the second quarter of 2023, Estonia’s exports of services grew by 8% and imports by 2% at current prices compared with the same quarter of 2022. Sales of services to non-residents totalled 2.9 billion euros and purchases of services from non-residents amounted to 2.2 billion euros.
