In November 2025, the trade deficit was 298 million euros, which is 72 million euros more than in November the year before. Jane Leppmets, analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that exports of goods to EU countries were up by 7% in November and imports from EU countries grew by 2%. “Imports from non-EU countries also increased, while exports to those countries decreased by 6%. The main reason was a fall in exports to Russia and the USA compared with November 2024. This was mainly due to fewer dispatches of forestry machinery and cocoa beans to Russia and decreased exports of communication

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2018, life expectancy at birth was 73.9 years for males and 82.4 years for females. Life expectancy has increased for both sexes, slightly more for males. Men are expected to live disability-free for 52.8 and women for 55.6 years. Just a year ago, disability-free life expectancy for males was two years longer and for females over three years longer.
The population of Estonia grew by 2%: immigration was the main contributor as births were at a record low

According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, on 1 January 2023, the population of Estonia was 1,357,739, which is 2% (25,943 persons) more than at the same time a year ago. In 2022, there were 11,588 births and 17,245 deaths in Estonia. Based on the data on registered migration, 42,022 persons immigrated to Estonia and 10,422 persons emigrated from Estonia. 75% (31,594) of the immigrants were from Ukraine.

According to the initial estimates of Statistics Estonia, the population number of Estonia as at 1 January 2016 was 1,311,800, which is 1,500 persons fewer than at the same time a year ago.

According to Statistics Estonia, by preliminary estimation the number of population in Estonia on 1 January 2009 was 1,340,300. Due to the increase in the number of births and to the decrease in the number of deaths the decline in population number slowed down last year.
