According to Statistics Estonia, unemployed persons numbered 59,000 and the unemployment rate was 8.7% in the 4th quarter of 2013. Although the annual average unemployment rate was lower than in 2012, the decline of unemployment has slowed down.

The average monthly gross wages and salaries has been decreasing for three quarters running compared to the same quarter of the previous year.

Tomorrow, on 5 March starts the second phase of the pilot Census of 2011 Population and Housing Census (PHC 2011), in the course of which the enumerators of Statistics Estonia will visit those people living in the pilot Census areas who did not participate in e-census.
