Statistics Estonia’s data submission environment eSTAT now allows respondent enterprises to compare their wages, profit and turnover with indicators of the same economic activity and Estonian averages. eSTAT displays personalised statistics currently to nearly 20,000 enterprises.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 3rd quarter of 2019, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 1,397 euros. Year on year, wages and salaries increased by 8.2%. The average hourly gross wages and salaries were 8.01 euros, which is 7% more than in the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Today, 1 September, marks the beginning of the 2020 Agricultural Census in Estonia. The census, which is organised every ten years, lasts until 15 November. Statistics Estonia expects around 11,600 agricultural holdings to participate in the census.

Statistics Estonia announces yet again the competition for the young statistician’s grant named after Albert Pullerits. The aim of the grant is to promote statistics as an important field of science, to encourage students to apply and develop statistical methods and to improve Statistics Estonia’s cooperation with research organisations.

According to the preliminary data of the Agricultural Census conducted by Statistics Estonia, there are 11,400 agricultural holdings in Estonia, which is 3,800 fewer than ten years ago. 84% of the agricultural output is contributed by 1,300 largest producers who use more than two thirds of the utilised agricultural area and account for more than a half of agricultural labour.

In September, Kaie Koskaru-Nelk, former Deputy Secretary General of Fiscal Policy of the Ministry of Finance, will assume office as Deputy Director General of Statistics Estonia. Koskaru-Nelk, who has worked in management positions in the public sector for over 20 years, will be responsible for strategic management of statistical analysis departments and international cooperation.

According to Statistics Estonia, over 2,000 persons have been enumerated in the pilot Census of the 2011 Population and Housing Census (PHC 2011). The population of Rae rural municipality have participated the most in electronic census that is going on until the mid-February.
