According to Statistics Estonia, in January 2021, exports of goods increased by 4% and imports by 13% year on year. The biggest driver of trade growth was exports of mineral products.

According to Statistics Estonia, in March, exports of goods increased by 19% and imports by 20% year on year. The growth in foreign trade was mainly driven by trade in electrical equipment, mineral products, wood and articles of wood, and transport equipment.

In the population census online test survey, which started at the end of last year, Statistics Estonia received answers about 828 persons living at 410 addresses. Interviewers started working on 20 January and they will contact by phone the people who live at the addresses in the survey sample but who did not respond to the questionnaire online.

Commissioned by the Government of Estonia, Statistics Estonia, together with Telia, Tele2 and Elisa, are conducting mobility analysis based on anonymous data of the mobile networks. While international trade in goods is based on their physical movement across borders, trade in services focuses on transactions between residents and non-residents, regardless of their location.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2019, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Estonia at current prices was 28 billion euros. Harju county accounted for 18 billion euros of the GDP, whereas the city of Tallinn contributed 15 billion euros in that county.

On 21 December, Liina Osila started as the project manager for the Population and Housing Census at Statistics Estonia. She will be overseeing the organisation of the 2021 census.
