According to Statistics Estonia, in the first quarter of 2023, the dwelling price index increased by 9.2% compared with the first quarter of 2022 and remained unchanged compared with the fourth quarter of 2022.

The places where people live have been recorded in one way or another for centuries. Piret Pukk, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that while Estonian residents have been travelling more in the post-pandemic years, they did less travelling in 2025. “Last year, the number of overnight domestic trips was still more than two times bigger than the number of outbound trips. According to Statistics Estonia, in the third quarter of 2022, the Dwelling Price Index increased by 0.8% compared with the second quarter of 2022 and by 24.2% compared with the third quarter of 2021.

Robert Müürsepp, team lead of national accounts at Statistics Estonia, said that although the economy has shown slight growth for two consecutive quarters, the contribution of most sectors has remained insignificant. “Manufacturing was the biggest positive contributor to GDP in the third quarter, with its value added growing by 7.9%. According to Statistics Estonia, in 2022, the Dwelling Price Index increased by 22.2% compared with the average of 2021, but the rise in prices basically stopped in the fourth quarter.

Statistics Estonia’s survey on information technology in households shows that inhabitants of Estonia are active users of the internet, but businesses need to protect themselves from security threats.

Lauri Veski, manager of the consumer price statistics service team at Statistics Estonia, said that the biggest impact on the consumer price index in 2025 came from price increases related to food and non-alcoholic beverages. “The prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages rose by 6.9% last year,” said Veski. Among food products, the biggest rise occurred in the prices of chocolate (31.5%), coffee (31%), poultry (15.2%) and fresh fruits and berries (12.7%). On the other hand, there was a decrease in the prices of sugar (17.1%), potatoes (5.7%), fresh or chilled fish (3.9%) and processed fruit
