  3. The consumer price index rose by 1% in April
Lauri Veski, team lead of consumer price statistics at Statistics Estonia, said that, compared with April last year, the more expensive healthcare services, food products and transport and housing had the biggest impact on the consumer price index. “In April, there were changes in the price lists of healthcare services, which affect the index both annually and monthly. Compared with April 2024, prices have increased across almost all categories of goods and services. Clothing and footwear are again the only exception, as their prices were down by 4.5%,” noted Veski. Compared with March, the

Eveli Šokman, team lead of producer price statistics at Statistics Estonia, noted that, compared with January 2024, the producer price index was most affected by price increases in the manufacture of wood and wood products, repair of machinery and equipment, and mining and quarrying. ”Falling prices in electricity and heat energy production and in the manufacture of paper and paper products and fabricated metal products had the opposite effect on the index. Producer prices increased by 2.4% in manufacturing as a whole and by 0.8% in the manufacture of food products,” Šokman added. Compared

  3. GDP flash estimate: economy grew by 0.5% in Q2
“Compared with the first quarter of 2025, the seasonally and working-day adjusted GDP was up by 0.5%,” stated Robert Müürsepp, team lead of national accounts at Statistics Estonia. According to Müürsepp, it is too early to say how the consumer price index adjustment will affect GDP calculations. “It is highly unlikely that it will have a significant impact,” he said. What is a flash estimate of GDP? Although the official GDP figure will be released on 29 August, the information currently available can be used to assess the overall economic situation. This includes trade indicators, transport

  3. eSTAT is replaced by a new self-service environment
Statistics Estonia highly values the contribution Estonian people and enterprises make to the production of official statistics. This will enable the creation of essential knowledge about indicators that are important for the country, ranging from GDP to the at-risk-of-poverty rate. We therefore hope that the new self-service environment will make data submission faster and more convenient. The self-service environment offers users of Statistics Estonia's e-services a number of new options that were not available in eSTAT. More user-friendly features will be added over time. 3. HICP flash estimate: prices up by 1.1% in June
The consumer price index uses weights reflecting the average expenditure structure of Estonian residents, while the harmonised index of consumer prices also takes into account tourists and is comparable to the international HICP. “Based on the preliminary estimate, the HICP was affected by the rising prices of food products and also by the higher prices of holiday trips and accommodation, although the latter is likely to be a temporary trend. Lower housing costs and decreased prices of clothing and footwear had the opposite effect on the index,” said Lauri Veski, team lead of consumer price

Helle Bunder, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that the volume of manufacturing production showed a modest increase in each month of the first quarter. “Manufacturing, which had been in a slump since summer 2022, started to show the first signs of recovery in October and November last year. Looking at the larger industries, there was an increase in output in the manufacture of electrical equipment (15.5%), fabricated metal
