The large-scale relationship survey* conducted by Statistics Estonia reveals that 41% of women in Estonia have experienced intimate partner violence during their lifetime.

At Wednesday’s meeting with enterprises submitting EKOMAR questionnaires, Statistics Estonia explains the importance of the collected data to enterprises and hopes to improve data collection in cooperation with them.

According to Statistics Estonia, the change of the consumer price index in May 2020 was -0.7% compared to April 2020 and -1.7% compared to May 2019. Compared to May of the previous year, goods were 1.5% and services 2.0% cheaper.

Statistics Estonia’s mobility analysis revealed that since the emergency situation and movement restrictions were implemented, people living in Estonia stay in their main location 20 hours per day on average. The distance covered in one day as well as the number of trips has decreased. The revised analysis shows that the share of people staying in their main location has increased by 16 percentage points, which means that an estimated 200,000 more people have stayed local.

Statistics Estonia will decide at the end of this year whether the 2021 Population and Housing Census will be register-based. The decision will be made based on the results and quality of the ongoing second trial census.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2014 the expenditure on research and development (R&D) in Estonia amounted to 286.7 million euros, which was 12% less than in 2013.
