According to Statistics Estonia, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Estonia grew by 4.2% in the third quarter of 2018 compared to the same period of the previous year.

Evelin Puura, the foreign trade statistics team lead at Statistics Estonia, pointed out that Estonia's exports were significantly affected by the re-exports of previously imported goods which increased by 30% year on year. “The rise in re-exports was mainly due to transport equipment,” Puura added. Exports of goods of Estonian origin grew by 4% compared with February last year, accounting for 65% of total exports. According to Statistics Estonia and Eesti Pank, in the first quarter of 2024, Estonia’s exports of services grew by 2%, while imports were unchanged from the same period last year. Sales of services to non-residents totalled €2.8 billion and purchases of services from non-residents amounted to €2.2 billion at current prices. The balance of foreign trade in services was in surplus by €595 million, which is €45 million more than a year earlier.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2008 Estonian enterprises produced 1.5 times more wind power and by a third more hydro power compared to 2007. Since 2005, electricity production from renewable sources has gradually increased.
