According to Statistics Estonia, during the last decade Estonia experienced a fast progress towards economic welfare, but the same cannot be said in regard to social coherence, ecological balance and developments in the cultural space. According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, in 2008 the usage of services of passenger transport enterprises decreased by about a tenth compared to 2007. The volume of carriage of goods decreased by a fourth compared to the previous year.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2014, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 1,005 euros and the average hourly gross wages and salaries were 6.14 euros. Compared to 2013, the average monthly gross wages and salaries increased by 5.9% and the average hourly gross wages and salaries by 7.2%.

According to Statistics Estonia, in June 2011, exports from Estonia amounted to 947 million euros and imports to Estonia to 1 billion euros at current prices. Exports increased by 43% and imports by 33% compared to June of the previous year.

According to the second estimates of Statistics Estonia, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Estonia increased 1.3% in the 3rd quarter of 2016 compared to the 3rd quarter of the previous year. The biggest contribution to GDP growth was made in the economic activity of transportation, followed by trade and the energy sector.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 3rd quarter of 2009, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 11,770 kroons and the hourly gross wages and salaries were 71.76 kroons. Compared to the 3rd quarter of the previous year, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were by 5.9% lower and the average hourly gross wages and salaries were by 5.8% lower. The average monthly gross wages and salaries has been decreasing for three quarters running compared to the same quarter of the previous year.

According to Statistics Estonia, in July 2009 exports of goods at current prices decreased 26% and imports 36% compared to the same period of the previous year. The decline in trade was announced in most commodity sections, the biggest decrease was in exports and imports of machinery and equipment.
