According to Statistics Estonia, unemployed persons numbered 47,000 and the unemployment rate was 6.9% in the 2nd quarter of 2014. Employment increased compared to the 1st quarter, but decreased compared to the same quarter of the previous year. The people of Estonia will be given information about participation in the census through television and radio as well as through out-of-home advertising and direct mail.

Statistics Estonia announces yet again the competition for the young statistician’s grant named after Albert Pullerits. The aim of the grant is to promote statistics as an important field of science, to encourage students to apply and develop statistical methods and to improve Statistics Estonia’s cooperation with research organisations.
